Im doing a science case study and need a bit of statistics thanks a lot x
I would like to, but there’s no mains gas where I live in the country.
How many people in the UK use gas cookers?
Is it all and all cheaper to live in a nice motel rather than an apt?
Considering bills/utilities are included in the rent at a motel?
In general, no, it is not cheaper to live in a motel.
One of the key reasons is your ability to store and appropriately cook foods. With only a small refrigerator, you wouldn’t have the ability to buy your items in large quantities, which is often a cost savings for those of us with decent size freezers. On top of that, if your only cooking device is a single-burner hot plate, it’s hard to cook more than one thing at a time…Not to mention that washing any dishes you use can be tricky if the bathtub is the only thing big enough for your pan to fit in. These inconveniences often encourage people to eat out more often than the otherwise would, adding to the overall cost of feeding yourself.
On top of that, you’ll still have the cost of doing your laundry offsite, which you might not be burdened with in an apartment. Additionally, most (obviously not all) motels that offer long term rates are in neighborhoods that put your personal body as well as your car at risk for theft or damage.
how can our union allow the company to put anyone they chose anywhere with out using plant seniority?
we have a certain amount of dozens that we are suppost to put out each month we are below our dozens the company has now taken six union employees and placed them in the warehouse they did not go by plant senority they picked who they wanted according to who they thought was not needed on their job the thing is there is this one girl who is the only one on her job they took her and our cuff girl plus our utility girl now they are saying they can put anyone on those jobs and if your dozens are done on your job then they can basically drop your pay and pay base rate now how can the company do this what can we do to help our selfs because our union rep isnt doing to much i realize they need to get thier orders out but i want the company to be fair for ex take our only baste zipper person and put someone else on that job that can not sew as much and pay her less money than if she was to be doing her own job
we have talked to our union rep she cannot give us one answere why they did this the way they did she doesnt suggest that we file a grievence she says if we dont like then go to the union meeting which will be after the order is done and what can change then the damage is already done they are changing when we get the curve and our training time if we are put on new job we only get 18 hours traing time it use to be 40hours I have been there ten and a half years and the company says we have been doing it wrong all along i asked what about past practices and they told me it doesnt matter we were reading the contract wrongall this time if we were then so wasnt the company i just dont get it and i dont know who else to turn to if we cant get the people we voted in to fight for what we believe to be right then where do we go, its almost like what ever the company says go how can they all thesudden say that they can basically stick you on any job as long as they feel like it .
If this is a breech of union contract, which I’m assuming that it is, your union officials, and shop stewards need to be raising some hell right about now. The company has flagrantly disregarded the labor contract, and it is going to take union solidarity to straighten this out, this means everyone filing a grievance for breech of contract. Contact your regional union Representative, to arrange a meeting with the plant manager. This is going to take everyone in your union local getting involved, if you want to fight this.
Let me know how this turns out. Best Regards!
Is it cheaper to turn down your heat at night, or keep it at a constant temp?
Im in buffalo, and for the last month I have kept the temp at 68 degrees during the early evening, and at night and during the afternoon when noone is home at 63 degrees. However my first gas bill was over $260.00, so I am looking for the most efficient way to run my heater.
Definately turn it down when you are away or asleep.63 degrees is a safe temp. Also, check for drafts around doors, windows.Even the door to your cellar should have weather stripping.Electric blankets are the most economical appliances to run.Probably under a dollar to run constantly per month.Insert caps into electrical outlets.Check with your city hall to see if they offer free evaluations to their residents on energy conservation tips.I live in Boston, and I hear you with the heating bills. So much for Global warming hu?
why gas is cheaper in the us than in the uk?
I would like to know why gas prices are cheaper in the us than it is in the uk.
Bully is right about the Aussie prices. I live in Melbourne.
Consider this: The UK, and Australia, pay higher REFINERY prices and crude prices for petro-fuels than the US. Working in the petroleum industry, I am aware that the the rest of the world has subsidised US prices for decades. The US also pays lower refining costs.
The UK is about 35% self-sufficient for oil (North Sea Brent mostly), and Australia is 94% self sufficient, but our prices are still pegged to the Singapore prices for refined Crude, the second highest in the worls as far as I kow.
How much does it cost to update the furnace in your home?
How easy is it to do? Would it be cheaper on utilities to go with an electric furnace rather than gas?
Ok I didnt know location made a difference, so I live in Nebraska and right now its 30 degrees outside brrr damnit!
There are lots of factors that go into answering this question. How many square feet are you heating, how well is the house insulated, how long are you planning on living there, how old is your current furance etc. In general gas is cheaper. Sorry I could not be more help.
Anybody else think Western Digital customer service sucks?
… and I would compare them so far to the likes of Comcast, Bellsouth, or any other bloated utility corporation.
I’ve called about 10 times this week and gotten somebody on the line 2 times. The other times I couldn’t wait literally 40 minutes for someone to answer.
I also ordered a cable two weeks ago and they’ve been giving me the classic runaround. Nobody can contact the warehouse but they’re checking into it. It’s especially frustrating when you can’t get a hold of anyone over there to check on the status…
Their phone options are ridiculous too. Their options seem quite limited if you haven’t purchased a Raptor model.
If this is how they are I would like to know because life is too short for this crap.
Maybe they have some sort of delay built in for my phone number… on the line right now (10+ minutes and counting).
I never had problems. Every year I buy 2 or 3 hard Disks from their site and live abroad too and never had a problem. They are fast and deliver on time.
Whats the difference between having all electric vs all gas appliances? cost wise?
I’m looking at Condos right now one has a gas furnace and water tank, while the other 2 have an electric(forced air) furnace and an electric water heater.
Which is more expensive to run in terms of energy bills? Do Electric Furnaces last longer then gas? Are they cheaper to replace? Does an electric furnace use a heating element or what?(vs a gas using a flame)
The one I’m looking at still has an electric furnace from the mid 70’s. Should i be worried?
I thought this comparison chart was interesting.

Is it hard to live in the UK because of gas prices?
i think most people that live in the UK are rich , because they don’t complain about the 10 dollar a gallon for gas. but are you guys struggling to live down there in the uK>>????
No not really, we are used to high prices, the population of the UK complain a lot but don’t actually do anything.
Those of us who live in rural areas’ have more of a problem because we need auto’s to get about, public transport is quite bad.
The current average price is above $11 a gallon.
The people of the UK are not rich, take my word for it.
How much would it cost for three adults to live in an apartment paying all utilities?
My rent would be $600 monthly
How much would
CABLE
PHONE
INTERNET
WATER
ELECTRICITY
FOOD
Etc.
All cost including the $600 a month ?
Cheapest and most expencive
Your share of cable, etc should be about $100 and your share of food depends how well you want to eat I would guess $200 each would be eating pretty good and you could do it for 100 each if you live on pasta and don’t buy cleaning supplies or paper products.
So with rent, utilities, food, and supplies about 900-1000 per month each.
Don’t forget you will need furniture, renters insurance, bedding and linens.
