Will stealing utilities in Michigan automatically send you to prison?

Back in March my neighbor was in a really bitter breakup with his girlfriend. One of the things she did to get back at him was have his gas shut off because he wasn’t paying his bills. The neighbor is a plumber and also knows a lot about heating and cooling too. So twice when the gas company put locks on the meter, he tampered with the meter. I even saw him do it. Once more, the gas company came out and this time removed the meter. I was going to try to help him get a new account in my name but the company said no. Apparently the company said he owes $2,000! So to get heat back, he went to a supply warehouse and bought items to bypass a meter and is stealing the gas. I really don’t want to be a snitch, but I smell gas coming from his house all the way across the street! He says he can’t do anything to get rid of it. I’m afraid of an accident happening. But he’s already on probation in 2 cities. So if I call to report a gas leak, will he just be fined or go to jail?
Thanks so much! Is there something we can do to take care of the leak without the gas company knowing? I really don’t want him to do time for that, but both he and I have kids that play right by this mess.

If he is already on probation that will be a probation violation.

that will probably send him back to jail.

(Edit to asker) Your neighbor needs a good criminal attorney immediately. Can you help him get one?

The gas leak needs to be fixed before the gas catches fire and kills someone.

If someone were to die form a fire caused by the gas, your neighbor could be charged with manslaughter which is far more serious than what he is facing right now.

A good attorney may be able to get the gas leak fixed with our doing domething that will result in your neighbor going back to jail.

Whats the difference between an electric and gas furnace? as far as cost and upkeep go?

I’m looking at Condos right now one has a gas furnace and water tank, while the other 2 have an electric(forced air) furnace and an electric water heater.
Which is more expensive to run in terms of energy bills? Do Electric Furnaces last longer then gas? Are they cheaper to replace? Does an electric furnace use a heating element or what?(vs a gas using a flame)

The one I’m looking at still has an electric furnace from the mid 70’s. Should i be worried?

Electric is MUCH more expensive to operate. It uses something called "heat strips" to provide heat. Have you ever seen a fake fireplace that provides heat by blowing air over a coil that heats up? It provides heat but is very expensive to run because it has to keep the coil red hot to provide heat. Well that’s the same way an electric furnace is going to heat your condo, except it has strips that it heats up and blows air over.

I would definitely go with the one with gas heat. By the way, a forced hot air furnace can still be gas. That’s what we had in New Jersey and my bills were not out of line.

A gas furnace costs more to replace, but a lot less to operate. Same with a gas dryer. It’s more to purchase, but less to operate.

An electric furnace from the 70’s is probably not a very energy efficient model so I would definitely think twice.

Good luck with finding your new condo and happy moving!!

Are Gas injectors available in the UK for Diabetes?

Hey, Does anyone know if Gas injectors are available in the Uk for diabetes.
I’ve been diabetic for 10 years now and they have finally admitted that the tablets are not working and are going to put me on insulin. problem is that i’m needle phobic!
i know of the new ultra thin injectors that use needles, just wondering about the gas ones.

thanks
Mathan, that just takes me to an advertising area of the web!

I’ve been using taking insulin for 7 years the needles are so fine, I inject around the waistline & don’t feel a thing.

If the earth were God’s computer, what utilities would He run to maintain optimum performance?

For example, would God buy a reputable program like Raxco PerfectDisk to keep the earth’s hard drive defragmented? Or, would He instead go on the cheap with some Chinese knock-off like "Hard Diskette Defragmenterer" with a sales line that reads, "Make hard drive faster go!"

Could the latter explain the issues suffered by earth here and now? Are humans the dust clogging the air intake vents in God’s master computer?

He apparently used windows…

Which explains a lot, actually.

He’s getting a new laptop this Christmas.

Do you agree with the following political platform planks?

We demand that the state be charged first with providing the opportunity for a livelihood and way of life for the citizens.

All citizens must have equal rights and obligations.

The first obligation of every citizen must be to work both spiritually and physically. The activity of individuals is not to counteract the interests of the universality, but must have its result within the framework of the whole for the benefit of all.

Abolition of unearned (work and labor) incomes. Breaking of rent-slavery.

… personal enrichment through a war must be designated as a crime against the people. Therefore we demand the total confiscation of all war profits.

We demand the nationalization of all (previous) associated industries (trusts).

We demand a division of profits of all heavy industries.

We demand an expansion on a large scale of old age welfare.

We demand the creation of a healthy middle class and its conservation, immediate communalization of the great warehouses and their being leased at low cost to small firms, the utmost consideration of all small firms in contracts with the State, county or municipality.

We demand a land reform suitable to our needs, provision of a law for the free expropriation of land for the purposes of public utility, abolition of taxes on land and prevention of all speculation in land.

The state is to be responsible for a fundamental reconstruction of our whole national education program, to enable every capable and industrious [citizen] to obtain higher education and subsequently introduction into leading positions… We demand the education at the expense of the State of outstanding intellectually gifted children of poor parents without consideration of position or profession.

The State is to care for the elevating national health by protecting the mother and child, by outlawing child-labor, by the encouragement of physical fitness, by means of the legal establishment of a gymnastic and sport obligation, by the utmost support of all organizations concerned with the physical instruction of the young.

We demand freedom of religion for all religious denominations within the state so long as they do not endanger its existence or oppose the moral senses … common utility precedes individual utility.

Please state yes, or no, and the political party you are affiliated with. Thanks :)
Spike this is an experiment.. Stop giving hints to the "less intellegent party".

no. i do not agree.

Firplace makes high gas bill?

For the last month, I have used the gas firplace for heat in our living/kitchen area, instead of turning up the heat in the entire house. I figured it would be cheaper to only heat the part of the house I am in most of the day. (we have 2000sq ft)but my gas bill doubled. Are gas firplaces really that inefficent & more expensive? Both the house & fireplace are less than 1 year old.

I’ve had this problem too. You’d think there would be a savings from not having forced air heat running. But, it probably doesn’t run all day. So, it’s no surprise your gas bill went up.

The thing to remember is that the gas keeps running until you shut the fireplace off. And, most home heating systems have a set temperature they generally try to maintain. When they get to the temperature, they shut off.

Another factor may be the outside temperature. That is, how many days did you really use your heat last month and how much colder is it?

Natural gas households in UK?

In the UK what is the percentage of households that have natural gas appliances? Gas Stove, oven, space heater, clothes dryer, water heater, etc.

Is it mostly all electrics in the UK? Every time I see photos or videos of modern UK, the homes always have an electric cook top. Why does the UK prefer electric appliances over gas appliances? Isn’t natural gas cheaper in the UK than using electricity to cook and heat with?

Natural gas is used in most households. There are some areas where gas is not available ,but all houses have electricity.Hoseholds vary as to whether they use gas or electric for their cooking appliances. Some use both. Most central heating and hot water systems operate on gas.At the moment gas is more expensive than electricity.

Your Car? Your Number?

If you could race for any team currently in nascar what team would it be? What number would you choose? What Make would you choose ( Cheverolet, Dodge, Ford, Toyota )?
What kind of sponsor ( for main ) would you like to have? Such as Beverage, Food, Utilities, Warehouses, etc…
Don’t Just pick everything your favorite please. that is boring. think of creative numbers and stuff

Star me if you think i have a good racing question since all the trolls

Team – HMS – why settle for anything less?
Make – Chevrolet
Number – 93 (It’s never won a cup race, and also a very memorable year for me)
Sponsor –
Primary = Alienware computers. That green alien symbol would look cool on a black car.
Secondary = Levi’s. I just can’t say enough about the Alienware Levis.

in the long run which is better, an electric clothes dryer or a gas clothe dryer?

Considering monthly cost. I dont really care about how fast it dries, just want to know which is cheaper in cost for the monthly bill, a gas or an electric.

gas

it is faster and requires so much less maintenance

i had to switch to electric where i am now and it is SOOOOOOOOOOO much slower even brand new
