I have M3 gas metre in UK I don’t know how to calculate the amount of gas I use. I take the previous meter reading away from the present meter reading from then I don’t how to work out. My bill is quit high I wander If they calculate my bill correctly.
Thank you all for your answer
i have not got a standing charge to pay.
I am so glad that you asked this question, the billing system in the UK is a stitch-up for the ordinary punter.
The Ofgen people say you can easily switch but it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT as there are so many tariffs being bandied about that you would need to be a full time lawyer on nights to make any headway through the maze.
If they or the Government really wanted the people to get fair priced energy they would make THE TARIFFS universal through-out all suppliers so that we the customers could start from a level playing field, never mind the over complication of EASY swap, we need to know about what we are swapping into and at what clearly defined true cost.
My local shop charges me for a pint of milk not the first gill at such a price and the second gill at another price, a pint is what I ask for and that is what I pay for and it is easy to see which shop is charging more for milk that it’s’ competition.
I worked in the Energy industry for many years and I fortunatley can do the sums, but I do wish I and others had no need.
OFGEN get of your arrse.
How to calculate the gas bill in UK?
What is the best recruitment agency for Oil and Gas Companies in the UK?
I am currently looking for a job with an Oil and Gas firm in the UK or anywhere in the world. I worked for Schlumberger as a Field Engineer and Supervisor for over 3 years in Canada, Pakistan, Tanzania, Egypt and Angola. I would like to know which recruitment agency would help me getting a job in this field in the UK or anywhere outside. I would like to work as LWD / MWD Filed Engineer or in Interpretation or Petrophysics departments. Thanks alot.
National Grid handle onshore transmission. There are a bunch that do off-shore, but I don’t know anything about them. I believe NG own most of the larger size diameters gas lines in the UK and a substantial part of the electrical network. They own a chunk of the smaller gas lines too, but were in the process of selling some of them off a few years ago.
Good Luck, Bob

Hi, i am a UK resident wondering which gas and electric company is better considered in terms of not scamming you lol. Thanks

Is it cheaper to heat using an electric heating or to heat with gas in the UK?
A friend of mine in the UK is using electic heaters and says it was cheaper as gas is so expensive. Although gas has become expensive in Germany, too, nobody would volunarily heat with electricity as it is even more expensive and as electric heaters are not very efficient…as heat is generated at power plants to generate motion to generate electricity which needs to be transported with great losses just in order to generate heat again in the end.
So why on earth is is still supposed to be cheaper in the UK to heat with electricity?
Gas is expensive to run on but not as expensive electric .
Now that Russia has turned off the Gas will the UK start to build more Nuclear power stations?
Most of the UK electricity is produced using gas, Should we be reliant on a "friendly" nation for essential services?
No. We will be sitting in the dark, huddled around candles before any governement gets it act together.
The problems we face now were inevitable.
Know that sounds miserable, I have no faith in the system, the UK has forgotten how to be a productive nation.
what is the cheapest way to keep your house warm in the UK ? Gas prices are just getting silly now!?
I have found a mixture of solid fuel and logs seems to be at least £60 a quarter less than using gas and you get the benefit of a traditional flame fire. After last years bill I found this was ,my cheaper option. My house is a 3 bed semi
Questions for UK gas boiler fitters. Is a condenser boiler the same as a combi’ boiler? My exsisting one is
floor standing (in the garage). It heats water, or runs the heating too. Not sure what that type is called, have a hot water tank/airing cupboard.
What should I changed to? Don’t want to change radiators, have 8, various sizes.
Not sure how old my boiler is. Want smaller but economical one. Maybe wall hanging type. Any advise please, including cost of supply and fit? Thank you.
A condensing boiler is one that recondenses the water vapur in the flue gasses to extract the latent heat of vaporisation which would otherwise be wasted to atmosphere. They are also known as High Efficiency boilers. A combi boiler is a boiler that does away with the need for a hot water cylinder or storage tank in the loft by heating water instantaneously within it as it flows through from the mains. A non combi boiler is one that is just a heat source used to heat external cylinder and radiators. Both combis and non combis can be made in high efficiency condensing versions, and indeed by law with very few exceptions you will need to fit the high efficiency version.
Cost depends on a lot of factors but you will need your rads and pipe-work cleaned prior to fitting of new boiler as the high efficiency heat exchangers are badly effected by scale and sludge.
Are there different fitments for UK gas cookers?
I am trying to fit my gas cooker but the fitment doesn’t seem to fit in the socket. I have asked my friend to have a look at it as he is a plumber and he can’t do it either. He doesn’t seem to know if there are different fitments though.
Help!!
If it’s a bayonet type fitting, the standard one is 1/2 " bsp.
You can also get a 3/8" bsp bayonet fitting and you will need the right hose for the particular fitting you have got.
I got a offer letter from Capital oil & Gas,UK, How do I know is that genuin or not? pls help?
Capital Oil and Gas has sent me a offer letter and they are saying to contact Global travel Agency to clear Visa and work permit in UK. can anybody have any idea on that? please let me know.
If you have NOT applied for a position in CAPITAL OIL and GAS and if the Global Travel Agency will ask money from you so that they can process your work permit, then DOUBT the job offer – its most probably is a scam.
Have a nice day !
