is it cheaper to run a little fan heater in a room for a while than to have the radiators on?

iv not put the radiators on the timer yet to come on in the morning and late afternoons etc..
just wondering if it might just be cheaper to heat a room up with those little fan heaters, does anyone know if it will be cheaper? the cost of my gas bill last year was just ridiculous.

Fan heaters eat electricity for a past time. Expensive to run. I would use the C/H Mine comes on at 06.00 am and off at 10.00 and on at 04.00am and off at 10.00 am and if it is really cold i use the over ride button. Set the room thermostat at 18c

Heating one room as opposed to an entire house is more efficient. Take the heater with you in your travels too like the shower. Or the bedroom at night. Or purchase separate ones. You can put the bedroom one on a timer so that it’s warmer in there before you go to bed.

BUT

Don’t let the rest of the house get terribly cold you could burst the pipes. 62 is a good temp to leave the thermostat if you have the heater.

There’s not much in it! You might as well use the radiators and have the benefit of the nice warm house as the heater will be eating through electricity really quickly!

I tried setting my gas furnace to run at 60 and then used an elect heater in one room.
Bottom line when looking at the electric meter usage, it uses LOTS of electric. Its your choice to pay gas or electric. Better to install that timer and only use the heater for a short time to take the chill off one room.
