It seems that you need a degree to work out which company offers the cheapest gas & electricity prices.Particularly when you look at all their tariffs & various plans.

Not easily so many variables . Whether dual fuel. whether prepay, quarterly or direct debit budget,, whether economy 7 tariff or similar . As you say is difficult. Also the premium and lower rates per unit are all varied and for different percentage splits, At the end of the day I found Scottish and Southern to be better than British Gas , who I was with previously”’ But not tried them All , definitely saves money to direct debit monthly though
