What’s the difference between a gas and an electric dryer?

Is one cheaper on utilities somehow?

Gas is cheaper. Takes a little longer, but it’s still cheaper to run.

gas is far cheaper on the bill, but electric will dry a bit faster, I vote for gas, and it depends on your gas company, they may be looking for a bail out soon, too

Gas dryer: heat is produced from an open flame in an enclosed chamber for the heating source. An electric dryer produces heat from an glowing heating coils and circulates the air through the drum in a similar fashion. Your home will have to have the proper hook-ups depending on your needs. Usually electric dryers cost less initially but cost a little more to operate.

A gas dryer will cost about $70 more to purchase, but in the long run, a gas dryer is cheaper to operate than an electric dryer. Your appliance store should have yellow tags on each model to show you to estimated annual cost to operate.

Gas is cheaper to run, but more expensive to install.
It must be vented to the outside, so your choice of locations
may be limited.
