I live in Melbourne. Consider this: The UK, and Australia, pay higher REFINERY prices and crude prices for petro-fuels than the US. Working in the petroleum industry, I am aware that the the rest of the world has subsidised US prices for decades. The US also pays lower refining costs. Our government takes around 49% of the price of fuel as tax.
